Just throw it in your backpack. From novice to expert, this rig makes shark fishing easy. Just tie it on and bait the hook. It's that simple.
QUALITY GEAR: Fishing tackle, equipment, and gear gets abused and tested every time you hit the water. This rig is made with the highest quality components, including the swivel, snap, line, pyramid sinker, sleeves, circle hook, stainless steel wire leader, and 400lb monofilament fishing line. It is perfect when using braid and braided fishing line and is ready to stand up to the most extreme fishing situations!
SALTWATER GRADE: Saltwater anglers know that the ocean puts all of your saltwater fishing gear to the test. Every component on this rig is made with saltwater grade products that are ready to catch sharks and other saltwater species like redfish, red drum, grouper, snapper, and tarpon.
Pro-Tip: If you want to use this as a live bait rig, just remove the weight from the snap and free-line a live bait caught with a cast net or sabiki rig. Tight Lines!
Shark Fishing Pro-Tips
What size shark can this rig handle? The BlacktipH Surf Fishing Shark Rig is engineered for high-performance land-based shark fishing. Built with a 400lb monofilament leader and a 350lb Rosco swivel, this rig is designed to handle sharks in the 3 to 7-foot range. While it is strong enough to manage larger "monsters" depending on your drag settings and skill, it is the ideal setup for targeting Blacktips, Spinners, Lemons, and Bull Sharks typically found in the surf.
What is the best bait for shark fishing? To get the best results with this rig, use fresh, oily bait that creates a strong scent trail in the water.
-
Top Choices: Fresh Mackerel (Spanish or King), Bonito, and Mullet are the "gold standard" for attracting sharks.
-
Alternative Baits: Ladyfish, Jack Crevalle chunks, and Stingray wings are incredibly hardy and stay on the hook even in heavy surf.
-
Pro-Tip: If the bite is slow, try using a fresh head-wrap of whatever baitfish you’ve caught locally that day—sharks are opportunistic and love a natural, easy meal.
How do you attach this rig to your main line? Attaching the BlacktipH rig is simple and designed for quick deployment:
-
Direct Tie: Use a high-strength knot like the Palomar Knot or an Improved Clinch Knot to tie your main line (braid or mono) directly to the heavy-duty 350lb Rosco swivel at the top of the rig.
-
Using a Snap Swivel: If you prefer to swap rigs quickly, tie a heavy-duty snap swivel to your main line and simply clip it onto the rig's main swivel.
-
Shock Leader: For the best performance, we recommend using a mono shock leader (60lb–80lb) tied to your braid via an FG Knot or Alberto Knot, then connecting that leader to the rig swivel.
